Online Ad Agency Market getting crowded?
Is it just me or is the local online advertising agency market getting a bit too crowded?
First we have Benito, Lisa and the guys at Mad Crowd. Next, there’s Jayvs and Blogbank. Now, there’s even another potentially big player coming in. *ill wait till they formally announce it*. I know these guys personally, and they are great guys (and girls lol).
As a blogger, i am excited that these companies see the potential in online advertising and hope that this will trickle down to us: the publishers. As the proponent of the number one website in the country, this also means a lot to our advertising revenue.
But i can’t help but think if having more ad agencies is better in the long run. After all, we haven’t really seen online spending as a priority of traditional companies. Sure, we have a couple of ads here and there, but there is much work that needs to be done on educating institutions that pound for pound (peso for peso), online advertising is a much efficient way of reaching consumers. It still won’t replace traditional media, yet, but if harnessed properly will make for a cost effective campaign.

I think the more the better. Since there will be a competition amnong them. Before most of the blogger depends in Adsense. At least now they can try the local scene.
Adsense revenue and Agency revenue is a bit linked due to the fact that traffic (pageviews) will be the main barometer of income.
But hopefully competition will make things better pero ang tingin ko if agency A offers lower rates (wich means lowered revenues) than agency B (assuming they have the same publishers which isnt that farfetched), Company will choose agency A which means (most of the time) lowered revenue for publishers.
We’ll see in the coming months….
The more the manyer. Hehehe. But the good thing about BlogBank and the unnamed one is that they already have local advertisers (and local ones at that, so they’re a bit more geographically targeted than AdSense), unlike Mad Crowd Media, which started much earlier.
Hey Eugene,
Mad Crowd has some advertisers as well although i think not all blogs get the same advertisers.
Trying to get MCM’s comment on this hehe
hi kiven bro,
we’re reaching a very interesting point in local internet advertising. with yehey and other “mainstream online” proponents tapping blogs, bloggers can really professionalize their craft with relevant advertising. but then again there is advertising and there is advertising with soul. as a marketer, i’m a firm believer in the full circle process which a lot of local advertisers seem to miss out on.
