It is hard being a third world blogger

It is hard being a blogger in a third world country especially if you blog about technology, gaming and other topics originating from the west. Dont you agree?

Take videogame blogging for instance, how many of you actually create your own unique content? and no: [taking content from a western source] + [adding in your funny/sarcastic comments] isn’t generating unique content. It aint wrong, heck i do that a lot of times myself, but i wonder how far regurgitating content will take us?

We have a hard time getting sources because companies dont set up shop here due to piracy. Just ask Sony’s game division or Microsoft’s game division. That’s the reason why we depend on an external source. Not to mention the high price of original games which leads to people turning to piracy just to afford to play.

I have a web site called Javamidlet that focuses on mobile Java technologies and mobile games created in Java.

You’re right in one point that it’s not an easy road to take but I do create my own original content about Java mobile games.

I think you’ll have to really love what you do to be able go the mile. I started the site last October and I been blogging on the site since then.

I think its depend on the niche of your blog. For Online gaming like yourself, You can always download game client try it and blog about it. I guess thats original content since you had a first hand experience of what you are blogging.

For gadgets and other technology you are right.

I’d rather play WOW than blog about it because no one cares about personal experiences unless you’re someone who matters on the world wide web. Your opinion also doesnt matter, most of the time, unless you have made a name for yourself offline or/and online.

Anybody can take [insert product] and give his/her opinions about it. Some may even be a good read.

Opinions are dime a dozen (thousand?) on the world wide web. Truly original content that matters is what im talking about. And that is very hard to do, regardless of niche.

oh and it doesnt mean original content = success online as well….

True and false. True, it’s hard making your own content. But I see each daily experience as blog material and then relate it to gaming. There are also tons of old stories and community-related topics that i post at my gaming blog http://www.gmtristan.com

although I admit that i sometimes aggregate posts from the west, these are done on general-topic ideas and stuff that I know my readers and I will WANT to read or digest.

For every GM Tristan, there are hundreds of failed/stale/splog/rehash game blogs out there who simply cannot reach the same level or pump out the same type of original content being that they are basically a nobody on the world wild web.
