What is a Problogger?

There have been many definitions of what is considered as a professional blogger or “problogger“. The simplest way to explain what we do can be summed up by the one and only Abraham of Yugatech, He says “a professional blogger gets paid to, you guessed it, blog”. He adds that probloggers get paid to write on blogs in the same way that “A professional driver gets paid to drive; a professional photographer gets paid to shoot pictures; a professional basketball player gets paid to play hoops; a professional crier gets paid to cry on burials.”. Simple, yes? But wait, did you know that there are also different types of probloggers?

Probloggers can be categorized into:

1. The Independent Problogger
This kind of problogger maintains and manages most, if not all, areas related to their blogs: From blog platform installation to creating content to marketing. Primary source of revenue would possibly come from ads or sponsorships.

2. The Corporate Problogger
Someone whose job description in a corporate setting involves blogging for the company’s blogs. Primary source of income would be base salary plus possible bonuses that may be affected by blog performance.

3. The Network Blogger
Experts in specific fields paid to write by a blog network such as B5 Media or Creative Weblogging. Source of income can be via revenue sharing, per post or base salary. More information regarding these in a future post.

PC Magazine Philippines also printed an article by Abraham about other Problogger categories namely: Celebrity Bloggers, who have loyal fans or followers due to blogging, and Blog Network Owners who basically own numerous blogs.

good day to all of you…

i watched a story on the news last night regarding pro bloggers, and what captured my attention was the way they earn money through blogging…

can u pls enlighten me more about blogging, i want to venture into professional blogging, is there any other articles, books on which i can read as to familiarize myself on blogging?

i really need some form of additional income and this might just be the answer….

hoping for your reply soon…

god bless

Start small. Go get an account on wordpress.com, blogspot.com or if you have the time and the cash, i suggest get a domain name and webhosting service.

then read problogger.com by darren rowse. from there, you will find links branching out from how to write better online to monetization.

A big part is actually writing about something. So ask yourself which topics are you interested in and write about those.

Word of warning though, Don’t expect immediate results. This is not a get rich quick scheme. Just my 2 cents.

thanks kiven for the advice actually as soon as i read your response i immediately got an account at wordpress.com for a free account….

and also i know this is not a get rich quick scheme… but it seems exciting to try ……
