Unsolicited Blogging Advice #29384 - Adsense and Content Building

I think someone i know said something like: “Do not ask what adsense can do for you, but what can you do for adsense.”

A lot of new local bloggers are hopping onto the adsense money train blind and disoriented. They slap adsense codes on their pages as if google pays based on the amount of ad space being used. I am not saying that what they are doing is wrong as they have certainly a right to do what they want with their blogs. I have walked the same path before and that is exactly why I’m sharing some things that may help them be more successful in their blogging ventures.

What i did learn from my experience is that adsense is more effective if you spent more time writing good web copy and finishing it off with a good, clean presentation dashed with a bit of SEO goodness. Remember adsense is contextual; for relevant ads to be effective it needs to be paired with relevant content.

Adsense also relies heavily on your ad impressions which directly correlate to your traffic. So if you have 100 uniques per day with a total of say 400 pageviews, you cannot compare to someone who has 1k uniques and 5k pageviews/day. Building your content not only can increase your traffic but pull up your adsense earnings along with it.

But that isn’t the end of the story: You may have the most engaging content in the world but nobody knows about it, then what good is it? I’ll try to talk about this in a future post on Unsolicited Blogging Advice. Thank for reading.
